When global market conditions are shifting rapidly and U.S. tariff policies are frequently revised, today’s students face increasing uncertainty in academic planning, major selection, and future career pathways. To help middle and high school students better understand world trends, develop critical thinking skills, and broaden their global perspectives, NC Youth Impact, in partnership with North Carolina Asian Americans Alliances (NCAAA), Carolinas AAPI Business Alliance(CABA), Cary Learning Academy, Research Triangle AI Society and Chinese Association for Science&Technology, NC Charpter, successfully held the “Young Minds & The Market: A Conversation with Experts” workshop on May 10.
The event was hosted by NC Youth Impact Co-Founder: Sunny Zhao and drew strong participation from students and families across the community.
Amid ongoing changes in U.S. tariff policy, global trade realignments, and intensified discussions around technology governance and social media, the rising generation must develop the ability to interpret complex information and make informed decisions. NC Youth Impact remains committed to empowering Asian American youth to build confidence, strengthen their voices, and navigate a multicultural society with clarity and purpose.
The workshop featured distinguished experts in economics, technology, and socio-cultural issues, offering students high-value perspectives on current events and market trends. Key topics included:
- U.S. Tariff Policy & Global Trade: How shifting policies may influence studying abroad, consumer decisions, and family planning
- Stock Market Volatility & College Majors: Identifying future career directions through market indicators
- Tech Competition & Social Media Regulation: The geopolitical dynamics behind the potential TikTok ban
- Cultural Identity & Diversity: How Asian American youth can build confidence and cultivate a strong sense of identity
- Youth Preparedness in Uncertain Times: How young people can respond, prepare, and speak up
Students engaged actively with speakers, asking thoughtful questions and connecting global events with their academic and personal development goals.
