Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month with Community Events-Highlighting Culture, History, and Youth Creativity

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, a national celebration honoring the rich history, diverse cultures, and lasting contributions of AAPI communities across the United States. This year, NC Youth Impact, in collaboration with community partners across the Triangle, is proud to present two major events: the AAPI Heritage Poster Competition and a multi-site Asian American History Exhibition designed to engage youth, promote cultural understanding, and uplift the diverse voices within the AAPI community.

📌 AAPI Heritage Poster Competition

 Theme: Highlight the contributions, cultural influence, or significant events related to AAPI history.
Participation: Open to individuals or teams (2-4 students).
Submission Deadline: May 1, 2025
Awards & Recognition: Winning posters will be displayed in the community festival and libraries. Winners will receive special prizes!

📌 Asian American History Exhibition

Exhibition Dates: May/3 – May/31
Location: Cary/Raleigh/Chapel Hill/Durham Regional Libraries
Content: The exhibition will showcase key moments in Asian American history, significant historical events, and notable AAPI figures, helping the community gain a deeper understanding of the impact of AAPI communities in the U.S.

✨ We encourage high school students to take an active role in organizing this event—planning the contest, coordinating the exhibition, and creating a platform to educate and inspire others about AAPI heritage.
