The AAPI Poster Exhibition proudly returned to the Common Roots Festival for the second consecutive year, continuing its mission of promoting cultural understanding and celebrating the rich history, heritage, and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.

Held at Durham Central Park, the exhibition was part of the annual Common Roots Festival, a Triangle-area celebration of AAPI Heritage Month that brings together community members through cultural performances, local artists, food vendors, educational activities, and interactive workshops.

This year’s exhibition was led by youth leader Leo, whose leadership helped bring AAPI history and community stories to a broad public audience. Through student-created posters, visitors explored important historical events, influential figures, immigration stories, and the lasting impact of AAPI communities on American society.

The festival setting provided a unique opportunity to engage families, students, and community members in conversations about history, identity, and cultural diversity. Throughout the day, visitors stopped by the exhibition to learn from the student displays, ask questions, and reflect on the contributions of AAPI communities both locally and nationally.
